3 Low-Effort Burnout Tips for Reducing Work Stress

No one is immune to burnout. It can get the best of us and usually gets us at the worst time! Although it can feel like there is no cure for burnout, there are proven ways to beat it! Here are three low-effort tips for reducing burnout:

Switch tasks

Switching tasks can allow you to continue working even if you are burnt out with something else.

It’s common advice to take a break when you hit a wall within a project or task. For some people, however, this break can kill the productivity momentum we fought so hard to get. So when you’re struggling with a task, it doesn't mean you have to stop working altogether - sometimes, all you need is a change of pace to ignite some inspiration and productivity!

Switching tasks can allow you to continue working even if you are burnt out with something else. Switching tasks will enable you to take your mind off one job and use a different part of your brain on another. ot only lets you start something new, but it clears your mind off the other tasks and lets you come back to it at a different time with fresh eyes. Switching tasks is very effective when taking a break is impossible or if you have a heavier workload.

Push that deadline

Having one more day on the project can bring a new perspective [...] don't look at a late deadline as the end [...]

Being on time is essential, but so is your health. Although deadlines are an essential part of a balanced work life, it's important to remember that it is not the end of the world when you don't meet one. Having one more day on the project can bring a new perspective or energy, so don't look at a late deadline as the end of the world. Being pressed to get something done at a particular time can stunt productivity and cause burnout. With many timelines and deadlines on your task list, it can create a sense of constant pressure and burn you out. Try to get in the mindset of doing your best work, but deadlines are not the bottom line.

Lean on your support systems

You need people there for you when things go wrong or when you need a helping hand.

In times of stress, support systems are everything! You need people there for you when things go wrong or when you need a helping hand. Leaning on your support systems can take a lot of pressure and stress off your shoulders and make you feel less burnt out. Support systems also don’t always have to be people. People, objects, or activities can rejuvenate you, and things you can relive by being there for you during tough times. Although many people may not consider a hobby a “support system,” exploring new passions can expose you to new communities, and those relationships can prevent and alleviate burnout.
